The John Jackson, Jr. and Mary Frances (Holman) Towle Homestead Built in 1899, Located at 59 Main Street, Dixfield, ME

Located on the Dixfield Common Road—at the center of the town—and where Dixfield began with the Holman brothers as Holmantown. A plaque was placed there during the town’s Bicentennial in 2003.

Our Mission

The Dixfield Historical Society is a non-profit 501-c3 corporation whose purpose is to collect and preserve artifacts and data from Dixfield’s past, protect current historical materials and promote through education the desire for future generations to honor and respect their heritage.

Meetings and Programs

Held the 2nd Thursday evenings in April, May, September and October at 7:00 pm
Annual Open House – 3rd Sunday in August from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Membership

Membership is $10.00/year which includes the Dixfield Star newsletter published three times a year. Lifetime memberships are also available.

Scrapbooks, Pictures, Letters!

Don’t throw away grandma’s old scrapbooks, pictures, letters, diaries, papers. We’d love to have them. They are Dixfield’s history and saving it is very important. Please visit our archive collection to see how we store this vital link to our ancestors and their past.
